How to Fix a Watch ?

Broken belt

1. Inspect the belt and check for loose or broken parts.

2. Remove the broken piece if the belt has different sections. Loosen the connection of the broken section by using a small screwdriver. Insert the replacement part where you removed the broken section and then adjust the connections. Usually there are small hooks that connect the sections. Be sure to twist them together by using fine tweezers in the watch pin tool kit.

3. Replace it with a new belt. If the belt is solid, such as leather or metal, remove the entire belt.

4. Remove the retractable pins that connect to each side of the watch. The strap should come out of the watch case by itself.

5. Attach the new belt by using the same pins. Be sure to push the pins firmly until you hear a sound that the strap is in place.

Broken hands

1. Inspect the hour, minute and second hands of your wristwatch. Sometimes, the hands are loosened by repeated blows.

2. Remove the back of the wristwatch. Lift the lid by using a small, flat screwdriver like the jewelers use.

3. Remove the movement and the crown by lifting them gently. Do not lose small parts. Make sure they are intact when you lift them.

4. Replace the hands in place once you reach the dial face.

5. Place the crown, movement and the back again in place.

Grated or broken glass

1. Remove the scratches from the glass using a very fine Scotch-Brite pad. It exerts a little pressure and gently moves the pad in the same direction as the rayon. This should remove or make the appearance of rayon less noticeable.

2. Look for a replacement glass for which it is broken. If you find it difficult to find the exact material, stick with a crystal in a similar way made with a different material.

3. Remove the broken glass. Remove the back of the wristwatch. Remove the wrapping from the movement and then the crown. The crown is the small knob that winds the watch. It raises the broken crystal of the sphere.

4. Insert the replacement glass and replace the removed parts.

Change the battery

Replace the battery if it does not show the correct time. You can buy batteries for digital and quartz watches at department stores or watch shops. Take one of tools from the watch battery tool kit to simply lift the back cover and remove the old battery. Find the same type of battery and then place the new one in its place. See if it works. Adjust the time if necessary.
